Antacids Overview

Overview

Antacids are substances that aid in neutralizing stomach acidity.

Most antacids are weak bases which help neutralize high acidity in the stomach. These types of antacids are to be taken for fast-acting relief for the stomach issue.

Another form of antacids are more potent, usually pharmaceutical drugs that actually reduce the amount of acid released by the stomach in the first place. These drugs are for more persistent stomach acid problems as they do not work as quickly but work for a longer period of time.
