My hubby had this procedure yesterday. The surgeon banded three hemorrhoid and had to try 4 or 5 times to insert the banding tool :-( He was advised that 3 were banded and he would experience some pressure. Well it is obvious this surgeon has NEVER had the procedure done to himself before because my hubby almost passed out and was sick to his stomach and they were just going to let him walk out of the office! They took him back into the exam room and had him lie down with his feet up. They had no pain medication to give and luckily he had a hydrocodone with him (he takes one when he has pain from an old neck injury) the nausea eased up and they took him out in a wheel chair because he was still woozy :-( He has been in constant pain since, taking sitz baths eases it a little not much though. He is taking his hydrocodone when it gets real bad and resting, he is very weak and has had some trouble urinating and now has a low fever of 99.5. I just don't get why Drs do not prepare patients better for how painful this is so he wouldn't have been caught off guard and why do they not give a local anesthetic before the procedure and provide some kind of pain medicine when a patient experiences extreme pain after this procedure. I am very angry and will give the Dr a piece if my mind when I talk to him. I am hoping he will start feeling better soon!
