About Me

I have been fascinated with physical, emotional, and spiritual health since I was a teenager, which led me to become a Naturopath, EFT Therapist, Reiki Master, and Nutrition Coach. I am now a vibrant and active 60-years-young, and I'm still learning and growing every day.

I have found that nature gives us the cure for every disease, and most of the time we just have to learn to really listen to our bodies to find relief for any ailment. Our minds are powerful beyond imagining, and I believe that we will soon be seeing more and more evidence that we create our reality with our thoughts.

How I Stay Healthy

The most important thing I've learned is to tap into the truth of who I am, by always moving toward that which makes me feel lighter and more free. Sometimes I feel like I'm so joyful and expansive I can hardly stay in my skin. When I'm in that state, there can be no dis-ease.

I eat a vegan diet, with occasional fish and eggs (since my body sometimes asks for that). My blood tested low for vitamin D, so I take 6,000 IU D3 per day. I will get my blood tested again after three months and adjust my dose accordingly once I get my level up to at least 60. I also take magnesium citrate (Calm), since vitamin D supplements use up a lot of magnesium (and most people are deficient anyway). I also take Vitamin Code "50 & Wiser Women" vitamins every day and I think they are excellent.

Most days I start out with a green smoothie (leafy greens, fruit, flax oil and some type of algae for DHA). I ask my body what it wants and eat accordingly. Sometimes it wants very tiny "meals" and sometimes it asks for strange meals like tofu, mustard, and seaweed, which tastes surprisingly delicious. I eat a high raw diet, but sometimes my body wants a totally cooked meal.

I get moderate exercise, usually walking or dancing, and have recently started doing core strengthening exercises to support my back.

In the past I tried to intellectually decide what I needed to be healthy, but I've learned that my body really knows better. Now I just let it lead the way.

My Experience with Health Challenges

As a Naturopath and Nutritional Coach, I have assisted many people in improving their health in various ways. It is always amazing to watch people feel better when they improve their diet and then so many fall back into the habits that made them sick. We humans are funny that way.

For myself, having been raised on dairy products with a dairy allergy, I had frequent respiratory problems most of my life. Eventually I found that eliminating dairy and wheat from my diet made a very positive difference and I've been quite healthy since.

Now my main issue is back pain, mostly due to sitting at the computer too much!!! I'm working on improving that.

Shared experience with Lyme Disease and Cat's Claw 7 years ago

Look for Samento, a concentrated, super-potent form of Cats Claw. It really knocks out Lyme symptoms, especially when taken with high doses of Vitamin C.

Examples of issues that my clients cleared or improved with EFT are food cravings, self-worth issues, childhood trauma memories, physical pains, emotional responses to family turmoil, grief, assorted fears, money issues, and deep-seated sadness. Any limiting belief that keeps you stuck can be cleared with EFT with persistent tapping. I even healed a wart from my own finger that I hadn't been able to remove for 19 years, simply by tapping on the issue for a few weeks.

I highly recommend trying EFT for anything that may be bothering you. It can't do any harm to try it, and you may be amazed at the positive results.

Aside from avoiding stress and negative emotional habits, nutrition is probably the single most important factor in maintaining good health. I highly recommend getting your blood tested to make sure your vitamin and mineral levels are adequate.

Vitamin D3 level should be at least 50, which is super important for a strong immune system. Though there is not a good test for magnesium, most people in America are deficient. If you are constipated, have frequent muscle aches or cramps, or have trouble sleeping (particularly if you are taking a vitamin D supplement), try taking magnesium citrate or boost your intake of leafy greens.

Those are just a couple of very important nutrients that many people are deficient in. Talk to a good nutritionist or naturopath for advice if you are not feeling your best. Most medical doctors have had only a few hours of nutritional education, so they are not the best source of information about nutrition or supplements.

Shared experience with Bach Flower Remedies 7 years ago

I have found that Bach Flower Remedies are particularly effective for animals and children, perhaps because they do not have deeply ingrained emotional patterns. The remedies are subtle and most adults will need to keep taking them over several weeks or months to see results. However, I've seen animals respond almost instantly. A dog who was afraid to come out of her kennel for several days joyfully came out to play within half an hour of taking Mimulus. A lethargic cat returned to normal immediately after taking Rescue Remedy.

The results are probably just as dramatic in adult humans, but we have so many layers of emotional damage that it takes repeated use of the correct remedies to notice the results. They are safe, inexpensive, and have no side effects, so there is no reason not to try them before resorting to more expensive treatments.

Shared experience with Homeopathy 7 years ago

Though our scientists may not yet understand how homeopathy works, I have personally found that it works quite well. In fact, homeopathy may be more effective than flu shots. In the deadly flu outbreak of 1918, patients treated with homeopathy had much higher survival rates than those treated by medical doctors. On a personal note, my allergic reaction to bee stings is always immediately relieved by taking homeopathic Apis. No more swelling or itching!

I had the same results with a bad case of poison oak. Fifteen minutes after taking the remedy, my skin started to tingle and the itching totally stopped. I could list many more experiences that have convinced me of the value of homeopathy. The best thing about it is that it is non-toxic and has no side effects, so it is well worth trying before resorting to the toxic pharmaceutical drugs or surgeries so prevalent in our medical system.

Since homeopathy is prescribed by looking at the symptom patterns, rather than the disease diagnosis, a different remedy may be needed by one person than another for the same disease. This is confusing to most people, but it is essential for homeopathy to work. Also, the low doses available at natural food stores are often not strong enough to bring about healing. A good homeopath can pinpoint the right remedy and dose for your particular problem. The first visit is usually expensive (around $300) because of the in-depth interview needed to assess your personal profile, but the following visits are usually only around $35 to $40, and you generally will not need many visits unless you have deep-seated or multiple problems.

The fact that the British royal family (who can afford the best medical care in the world) uses homeopathy, should be some indication of its value!

Shared experience with Reiki 7 years ago

Reiki is generally felt as a very relaxing energy that is passed from one person (who has been "attuned" by a Reiki Master) to another. The practitioner generally places hands on the fully clothed body of the client, usually over the important organs, and/or over an area that has been injured, diseased, or traumatized. Reiki can also be sent from a distance, or by holding the hands a few inches to a few feet from the body. Most people feel relief within 10 to 60 minutes, and some even become so relaxed that they fall asleep.

My theory about Reiki is that it relaxes the body and reminds the cells of their natural healthy state. Reiki does not cure anything, but it can help to allow the body to heal itself. I have often used it on friends and clients with headaches or simple injuries (like twisted ankles) and it has relieved their pain very quickly.

Reiki also helps to open people to energy and spiritual awareness. Many people feel heat or tingling when receiving or giving Reiki. These physical experiences of energy can be quite powerful. We have no scientific explanation, which causes people to expand their openness to possibilities of healing that they may not have entertained before.

Shared experience with Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) 7 years ago

I have been an EFT Therapist for about 15 years. I use EFT in combination with Law of Attraction Coaching, Reiki, and sometimes other modalities. In all these years, I have only had one client who did not experience at least some relief from the issue they were addressing. Most of my clients experience significant relief, and some even say they can hardly remember why they felt the need to seek help in the first place.

While EFT does share some elements with traditional forms of therapy, it generally works much faster. It has no side effects and can eliminate serious emotional (and even physical) problems quickly, often in one session. It is easy to learn and you can do it on yourself. However, if you do not get results, it may help to work with an experienced professional. You can find instructions and lots more information about EFT on my website - www.Healitall.com
