What are H2 Blockers?

H2 blockers are medicines that reduce the amount of acid in the stomach by "blocking" the production of "histamine 2" or "H2." Histamine 2 is actually a chemical that signals the body to produce stomach acid. With H2 deactivated, no stomach acid is produced making this medicine good for the treatment of acid reflux diseases.
