Obesity is most associated with pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes. The connection is simply that when fat cells grow in size their ability to attract and connect with insulin diminishes. However, if that same fat cell's size is reduced early enough (through dietary changes and exercise which result in wight loss), a normal relationship with insulin can return.
