Your doctor is unlikely to prescribe caffeine as a treatment for ADHD. Why? Because studies show that stimulant medication is more effective. That said, some researchers question these studies, suggesting that in higher dosages caffeine could be as effective as stimulants. Anecdotal evidence supports this theory as a number of ADHD suffers claim to already be using caffeine to self-medicate.

Absolutely not. Whereas a teacher can recommend a child receive a diagnosis, they have neither the credentials nor the authority to make a diagnosis. Only a licenced medical professional is qualified to diagnosis ADHD. This is generally a pediatrician/family doctor or a child/adult psychiatrist.
