I am a 43 year old woman with previous diagnosis of Basilar Migraine and Raynauds disease. AFter suffering a bad bout of chest infection and asthma I awoke with severe chest pain and a tachyarrhythmia. I had several recurrences of central or left chest pain, clamminess and nausea. By the time I got to emergency dept. all tests were normal and I was told I was having panic attacks. Knowing (as a doctor myself) something wasn't right I started to pinpoint my own symptoms. I started having basilar migraines and general vasospasm at similar times to the chest pain. I wondered if I was therefore having coronary vasospasm. I had tried to get an urgent cardiology referral but with my image as a hysterical 40 year old woman tainting my symptoms getting taken seriously, I took matters into my own hands. I started magnesium supplements - immediately my basilar migraine symptoms subsided - I also felt generally much more well. I had a nights sleep without being disturbed by tachycardia for the first time in 3 weeks. The next day I had angina type symptoms on climbing stairs (freezing weather outside). I felt unwell for about 20 minutes until this subsided. On returning home I again took magnesium and began to feel improvement in my wellbeing. I will continue to use the magnesium until I see a cardiologist
