I got h1n1 and developed triple pneomonia in January. My oxygen was in the 60's when I was put on the machine. I was on it for about a week. Without it I would have died. It's now been 5 months since I was hospitalized and I am not completely well. Energy is still quite low. I didn't have a voice for about 2 months and lost about 75% of my hair (not sure if that has anything to do with the ventilator). I was told it would take 6 months to a year to get back to normal. Without this machine I probably wouldn't have survived.

I was unconscious, but it saved my life. If there were alternative treatments I would recommend anything other than what I went through.
