Experiences with Loperamide

I'm somewhat susceptible to diarrhea and discovered that the Statin drug that I was taking could also cause this condition. I stopped taking the statin, but took the Loperamide for a couple of days until my digestive system recovered. It worked better than the "let the diarrhea run its course, but keep hydrated" option. Previously, I would have been up all night in the bathroom, but was able to sleep after taking the Loperamide. I didn't notice any adverse side effects in terms of alertness. I rarely drink, so that wasn't a problem. I had no other adverse effects.
